Covid-19 Update - Mask Policy

Dear Edible Island Community,

With regards to the new provincial changes to the mask policy, our team has considered a variety of options and we want to share our decision process with you. Please know that we have tried our best to make a decision that we feel makes sense for the comfort of both our staff and customers.

In particular we have considered the following:

  • Our store is small (in comparison to other grocery stores)
  • Many of our customers are vulnerable with their health
  • Our staff are exposed to a large number of people each day, and due to the store size it is difficult maintain physical distance in their working environment
  • The BC government has made public health recommendations and part of that is to allow individual stores to create their own mask policies

With all these considerations, as a team we have decided to implement the following mask
policy:

  • The majority of our staff will continue to wear masks while working
  • Staff and customers will be encouraged to continue to sanitize hands upon entry
  • Staff and customers will be encouraged to continue to respect social distancing at al times
  • Mon-Sat from 9-10am and Sun 10-11am all customers coming into the store, and staff working, will be required to wear a mask, this will enable our vulnerable customers to shop comfortably
  • These policies will be reviewed and amended as appropriate

We thank you for your continued kindness, patience, and co-operation.

We are all tired of COVID-19, and yet we will continue to persevere and care for one
another as best we can. Above all, Edible Island is an inclusive community including staff,
vendors and customers. We strive to accept each other’s needs and ensure everyone feels
welcomed and comfortable.

Yours in Health,

Steve Stewart, Owner, and General Manager
